a.m. Bonneville Ave. Pocomoke Fire & Rescue and Pocomoke EMS responded
to a residential structure fire of a single story home. When the first
unit arrived they found smoke coming from the roof area of the house.
With a quick attack through the front door, firefighters were able to
extinguish the blaze, mostly in a front bedroom. Firefighters cut a hole
in the roof for ventilation. There was smoke damage throughout the structure.
The cause of the fire appeared to be a curling iron that was left on.
No one was home at the time of the blaze. A pet dog that was in the home
died as a result of the heat and smoke. The Worcester County Fire Marshals
Office investigated. There were no injuries reported. Chief Dicky Gladding
was the officer in charge. |
