Sept. 15, 2008 11:47 p.m. - Commercial structure fire at Newtowne Apartments on Market St. in Pocomoke City. It appeared that a ballast in an overhead light over heated, burning insulation and wood in the ceiling. In doing so the fire burned a water line causing water damage to the area. Fire crews were on the scene for about an hour. Residents were allowed to re-enter the building after the situation was secure.
Chief Dicky Gladding was the officer in charge.
