Pocomoke City Volunteer Fire Company, Tower 1 responded to the Perdue Plant in Accomack County at the request of the County. The following is a report received from The Parksley Vol. Fire Co.:

On 8/21/2008 at About 0455 Hrs. Parksley Vol. Fire Co. responded to an unknown medical emergency, Subject found unconscious on the roof of a silo at the rendering plant located at 22520 Lankford Hwy, Accomac Virginia. Medic 70, Engine 75, Brush 7, Unit 79 (Parksley, VA), and Command Unit from Accomack County responded. Chief 7 established incident command. 2 DPS Personnel and 10 volunteers. O/L to find 1 patien on rooftop in the rendering area about 75 to 80 feet up. DPS 3 and DPS 71 made entry of building and accessed the patient. DPS 3 assumed operations command. Assessed and found patient. to have had a possible CVA. Paramedic Schlief from Parksley VFC joined DPS crew on rooftop. DPS 3 requested Tower 1 from Pocomoke. Fully immobilized patient to a backboard and provided care on the roof. Tower 1 and Command 1 o/l w Chief 100. Extended ladder to roof and placed patient in a stokes basket. Secured him to the platform and lowered to the ground. Care of patient transferred to Medic 70's crew. Patient transfered to Shore Memorial Hospital Emergency Room where he was found to have a substantial cerebral hemorrhage. Patient listed in critical condition.
