City Vol. Fire Co. assisted Princess Anne (Somerset Co.) with an outside
fire on Arden Station Rd. Thirty to Fifty acres of barley burned, approximately
half of it had been harvested. The fire started from the harvesting equipment
in the field. Additonal Companies/Departments that assisted include: Marion,
Crisfield, Mt. Vernon, Fairmount, Deal Island, Allen and Pocomoke EMS. Snow
Hill and Salisbury Station 1 were alerted to stand-by for Princess Anne.
New Church and Stockton were alerted to stand-by for Pocomoke. Pocomoke responded with two engines, tanker, brush, a rehab unit and two additional units to supply rehab. Additionally, the Red Cross was on the scene to assist with rehab. A large disc was used to cut a fire-line around the perimeter of the fire. Firefighters were on the scene for over three hours. Princess Anne was the Officer in charge. |
