Find the Lantern
We need your help!
Help us find our steamer's missing lantern.
Sometime a few decades back, a very precious item to our company was lost. We're trying to track down the ornate lantern that was mounted to the front of our 1880's Clapp & Jones Steam Fire Engine. The steamer was purchased in January of 1889 shortly after our fire company was organized. It served our company for many years before ultimately winding up in storage for a few decades. In the 1980s, the steamer was cosmetically restored and brought back out for display, though the beautiful lantern it once had was lost and hasn't been seen since. In honor of 130 years of service, we're putting out a call to #FindTheLantern. We believe it may have been misplaced and hopefully found it's way into a safe place albeit in the possession of someone who doesn't know that we'd like to bring it home.
If you have any information please email [email protected], message us on Facebook at fb.com/pocofire, or leave a voicemail at (410) 645-0032.
Please send tips on whereabouts, a replacement, or an experienced fabricator. Likely glass etchings would be PFD, PFC, Pocomoke, and/or Co. #1
