New Emergency Alert Siren Installed
For more than a year now the emergency alert sirens in Pocomoke City have not been functioning. These sirens are used to alert citizens in times of natural disasters such as tornadoes and also alert firefighters for an alarm. The sirens were over 50 years old and simply wore out with no availability of repair parts.
To correct the situation Worcester County will soon install a new emergency alert siren adjacent to the firehouse at 1410 Market St.
While previously there was an emergency alert siren at 10th Street, this is the first time a siren will be installed at the firehouse and residents in the area may not be accustomed to the siren's sound. The fire company wishes to make the community aware of this change which will enhance the overall safety of the city.
